Poll: Are political gender quotas a good idea?

What do you think?

UNDER GENDER QUOTA legislation introduced in 2012, political parties could lose half of their state funding for failing to ensure 30% of their general election candidates are female.

As TheJournal.ie reported yesterday, Fine Gael is likely to add at least four more women to election tickets in order to reach the target.

But the measure has caused friction at a number of selection conventions in recent weeks, leading to legal action from at least one failed candidate (Fianna Fáil member Brian Mohan).

This morning’s poll: Are political gender quotas a good idea?

Poll Results:

No (7721)
Yes (1669)
Not sure (466)
