A NEW RED C poll has found 85% of the Irish adults want an immediate ban on the sale of nicotine pouches to anyone under the age of 18.
Nicotine pouches are small pouches of powder with nicotine, flavourings, sweeteners, fillers, and other chemicals. They are placed between the user’s lip and gum.
Those legally on sale in Ireland do not contain tobacco and are therefore not subject to existing tobacco regulations.
Although the data suggests the majority of adults want to product banned for children, an overall ban was rejected by those polled as 64% of respondents said this would drive smokers back to cigarettes or to the unregulated black market.
