19-year-old due in court after attack that left man in critical condition

The incident took place in Rialto, Dublin 8, yesterday evening.

A 19-YEAR-OLD male is expected to appear before the Court of Criminal Justice in Dublin tomorrow morning charged in connection with an assault yesterday that left a man in critical condition.

The man in his early 20s received serious injuries as a result of the attack which took place on St. James’s Walk in Rialto, Dublin 8.

According to gardaí in Kilmainham, it happened as a result of an altercation between two men near the Rialto Luas stop at around 5.40pm yesterday.

The injured man is being treated at St. James’s Hospital, where he remains in what is described as a critical but stable condition.

The 19-year-old male due in court tomorrow was arrested at the scene and was being questioned today at Kilmainham Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
