Gardaí received reports that a young boy had entered the water last night
The woman was spotted in the water just after 12.30 pm.
“People are only out there because they want to be out there, there’s great camaraderie and we keep each other going in a search.”
The man entered the water from Sarsfield Bridge.
He is currently being treated in hospital.
The two were rescued from the water close to the Custom House on the north quays.
The 47-year-old was pulled from the water by Dublin Fire Brigade, but later died in hospital.
