"You're not a woman, you're an immigrant" - PSNI investigate racist incident in Antrim

Police in Northern Ireland say they have identified the three youths and will speak with them in the next few days.

POLICE IN NORTHERN Ireland are investigating an incident in which a Romanian woman was verbally abused, and may have had a stone thrown at her.

The incident, which occurred in Antrim, was recorded on a phone and was later uploaded to Facebook.

The video begins with the woman asking why the three youths have ‘no respect for girls’.

One of the three youths answers “You’re not a girl, you’re an immigrant.” The woman stays silent, and another of the boys asks “Where are you from?”

“Romania,” she says.

The boys laugh and jeer at her answer before one of the boys says – “We don’t like Romanians”.

As the woman begins to walk away from them, two of them follow her, and one looks as though he has, or is about to throw a stone at her.

Police Service of Northern Ireland Chief Inspector Arthur Davidson said:

At this stage we have identified the three boys involved and arrangements will be made to speak to them formally over the next few days.

“We are also working to identify the victim in order to ensure she is offered every support as we move forward with our investigation.”
