Profile

Former Dublin football manager Jim Gavin was selected to run as Fianna Fáil's candidate in the presidential race in mid-September, but withdrew on 5 October after a story broke that he had not repaid a tenant €3,300 that was owed to them.

Gavin's name will still be on the ballot paper on election day; he is still technically a candidate, even though he has stopped campaigning, as the deadline for his name to be removed had already passed.

Votes for him will still be counted as if he were in the race. However he has withdrawn from the race and is not running a campaign for president.
