TENNIS PLAYER SERENA Williams starred in a Super Bowl ad for weight loss injections yesterday.

Williams was advertising telehealth company Ro, in which her husband, Alexis Ohanian, is an investor and board member.

Ro, which diagnoses patients, prescribes and delivers treatments and ongoing care, offers a variety of weight loss medications.

The 30-second clip showed the 23-time Grand Slam singles champion injecting herself with a GLP-1, which she said she has lost over 30lbs with.

“Healthier on Ro, supported on Ro, FDA approved GLP-1 options – now even in a pill. Weight loss expertise I trust,” she said.

“I’m moving better on Ro. I’m feeling better on Ro. I’m Serena Williams, this is me on Ro.”

Speaking on Oprah last month, Williams, a 44-year-old mother-of-two, said she began using weight loss injections as she was struggling to lose weight after her pregnancies.

She said she was originally against using GLP-1 jabs as she thought it was a “shortcut”, but ultimately felt nothing else would work to lose weight.

After having her first child, she said it was “virtually impossible” to lose weight.

The tennis player said that while training for her last competitive match in 2022 she couldn’t lose weight despite spending eight hours a day in the gym.

“I might have even gained weight. It was incredible how my body looked even though I was putting in hours and hours of training,” she said.

Highlighting that the issue impacts professional athletes too, Williams said she feels part of her weight loss struggles were because her body “liked to be at a certain weight”.

“I felt it’s so important to tell my story as a lot of people can relate to that.”

She said that since using the medication, her energy has increased and it has positively impacted her joints, adding that she wishes she began using it while still playing tennis.
