Breathtaking.

SKELLIG MICHAEL played a key role in a standout moment in Star Wars: The Force Awakens – and it appears the filmmakers have fallen in love with Ireland, as they plan to shoot here again.

The Derry Journal reports this morning that LucasFilm scouts have earmarked Malin Head in Co Donegal as a possible filming location for the trilogy, although Ministry of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht has not yet given permission.

It’s no wonder they’ve fallen for Ireland’s northernmost point –  it’s absolutely stunning.

Malin Head is scenic Ireland at its wildest

You can get extremely close to nature

As close as it’s possible to get

The view of the Atlantic Ocean from Banba’s Crown is second to none

Just sea as far as the eye can see

And so many people have tried to make their mark on it

(With harmless stone formations, mind.)

This ‘Eire’ sign was used as a symbol of Irish neutrality during WWII

And this old watchtower is a relic from the Napoleonic Wars

You can take a walk along the coast…

Admire the wildflowers…

Or take a look down the Hell Hole

It’s stunning during the day

But it can be even more beautiful at night

Malin Head is one of the best places in Ireland to see the Northern Lights.

And even the local cows adore the view

To put it lightly, Malin Head is gorgeous

And the perfect holiday spot for a Jedi, don’t you think?
