Student's mobile phone porn habit costs him €1,650

The Cork student learned a harsh lesson when he used his mobile to download video content.

A STUDENT WHO downloaded large amounts of porn using mobile internet on his phone racked up a bill of more than €1,650.

Cork Student News writer Mick Daly reports that the man – who did not want to give his name – claims he was told that when he signed up for a new Meteor bill-pay phone, “unlimited internet was part of the deal”.

However two months later he received a bill for more than €1,600 – and realised that this was due to downloading gigabytes’ worth of cyber porn.

He regularly downloaded videos multiple times a day, some of which were up to 25 minutes in length.

Meteor took some sympathy on the student and settled on a bill of €400.
