Security guard tackled and held supermarket raider until gardaí arrived

The incident happened in Lidl on the Malahide Road at around 8pm.

A MAN IS expected to appear before the Courts of Criminal Justice this morning charged in connection with an attempted supermarket robbery in Dublin last night.

The incident happened at in Lidl on the Malahide Road at around 8pm.

A 28-year-old lone male raider entered the supermarket, threatened staff and demanded cash. However, a security officer at the shop tackled the raider and held him until gardaí were called.

The raider was arrested at the scene and taken to Coolock Garda Station and will be charged in court later this morning.
