Suspicious object in Dublin's North Strand cleared by army explosive team

Gardaí confirmed that the object discovered yesterday evening was non-viable, and the area has been reopened.

GARDAÍ HAVE CONFIRMED that a suspicious device found on North Strand Road in Dublin 1 yesterday evening has been declared non-viable.

Emergency services were alerted shortly after 6pm, prompting gardaí to establish a cordon around the area.

The road was closed from the Five Lamps Junction to the Newcomen Bridge on North Strand Road.

The Defence Forces Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team then carried out a full assessment at the scene yesterday evening.

Following their investigation, it was determined that the device did not pose a threat to the public.

The device was also removed from the area.

The road was temporarily closed to ensure safety while the team examined the object, but it has since been reopened.

Gardaí thanked the public for their cooperation, and confirmed that no injuries were reported in connection with the incident.
