A SENATOR WAS arrested and released without charge last night after walking into a crime scene in Temple Bar.
The Social Democrats’ James Heffernan, who was elected to the Seanad in 2011, was taken to Pearse Street Garda Station.
He had walked into the perimeter of what is believed to have been a serious assault in the area and was removed by gardaí after failing to comply with an order to leave.
A party spokesperson confirmed that Heffernan had been arrested and was released without charge an hour and a half later.
Gardaí confirmed that a man in his 30s was arrested at 8.15pm last night and taken to Pearse Street Garda Station.
