English tourist (40s) in critical condition after assault in Temple Bar

Gardaí in Pearse Street have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

AN ENGLISH TOURIST in his 40s has been hospitalised following a serious assault in Temple Bar in the early hours of this morning.

Gardaí and emergency services responded to the incident at approximately 12.30am in the Temple Bar Square area of Dublin 2.

The seriously injured man was taken to Beaumont Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

Gardaí believe there was an altercation involving the man and another man that escalated into an assault.

Gardaí in Pearse Street have appealed for witnesses in relation to the incident.

The scene was preserved and a technical examination has been completed according to the Garda Press Office.
