Gardaí chase man armed with two knives after failed robbery attempt

The 21-year-old was arrested and charged.

A 21-YEAR-OLD MAN has been charged in connection with an attempted robbery that took place at a shop on Terenure Road West, Dublin.

A man entered the shop at about 6.20pm yesterday wearing a hat and scarf. He was carrying two knives and threatened staff, demanding cash.

He left the shop without taking anything and ran in the direction of Lavarna Grove, Terenure.

Two gardaí who were out on patrol observed a male running from the shop and followed him on foot. They confronted him at Lavarna Grove, where he was disarmed and arrested.

Gardaí observed a waiting car and arrested a female passenger (23). Both were taken to Terenure garda station and detained under section four of the Criminal Justice Act.

The man will appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice today. The woman was released and a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
