GOOD EVENING

The 5 at 5 5 minutes, 5 stories, 5 o’clock…

EACH WEEKDAY EVENING, TheJournal.ie brings you five things you should know before you head out the door.

#MURDER Edinburgh Police have confirmed the identity of a woman killed in Edinburgh last month, following an appeal for information in Ireland. She was 66-year-old Dublin woman Phyllis Dunleavy. A man, understood to be her son, has been arrested and charged.

#BLAZE 16 people – including three children – were rescued from their homes overnight after a fire broke out at an apartment complex in Clondalkin. Some of the children were helped out of windows by firefighters. One woman went into labour during the ordeal.

#OHIO The three women held captive in a Cleveland house for over a decade have issued a video ‘thank-you’ for the support and financial backing they’ve received since their release. Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus and Michelle Knight broke their public silence in a short Youtube message.

#YOUTH DEFENCE The anti-abortion group’s website was hacked earlier, and replaced with a 2,500 word piece claiming to be “blowing the lid” on the background of the organisation. Youth Defence has branded the stunt as “illegal and utterly pointless”.

#ONE HUMP OR TWO? Sunbathers on the Inishowen Peninsula were joined at the beach by an unusual visitor - a Bactrian camel (that’s the one with two humps). Meanwhile, readers have been sending in some spectacular pics of the continuing heatwave.
