GARDAÍ HAVE ISSUED an appeal for information on a serious assault that happened in the Thomas Street area of Dublin 8 last Saturday.
A 19-year-old woman was seriously assaulted at a premises off the street in the early hours of Saturday, according to gardaí.
A man has already been arrested and questioned over the attack, and a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Investigating officers want to hear from taxi drivers who may have been operating in the area at the time. In particular, they’ve issued an appeal for any driver who may have picked up a couple outside the Olympia Theatre on nearby Dame Street between the hours of 2.15 and 2.50am and taken them to the Thomas Street area.
They also want to hear from “any taxi driver who collected a female at the corner of Thomas Street/Bridgefoot Street junction at approximately 3.15a.m. – 3.20am on the same date, conveying her to Dame Street, and also any taxi who picked up a lone male at the same location at about the same time”.
