Donald Trump says he'll make America win again, 'win bigly'

AMERICAN POLITICS GETS weirder almost by the day right now, but yesterday felt like it was especially bonkers.

Firstly, Donald Trump tangentially linked his opponent’s father to the assassination of John F. Kennedy. Seriously, he actually did.

But later, after Trump handily beat Ted Cruz in the Indiana primary, Cruz dropped out and the chairman of Republican National Committee was forced to acknowledge that the real estate tycoon is now the party’s presumptive nominee.

But the night then got even weirder.

As both men stepped forward to make their victory and concession speeches, they each had a specific moment that got people talking online.

Cruz, completely accidentally it must be said, elbowed his wife in the face as he went for an embrace with his father.

And then we get to Trump, who tried his best to sound gracious in victory by repeatedly saying that Cruz was a “tough competitor”.

He didn’t go so far as to say that Cruz was a man of principles or anything, just that he fought a good fight. And lost, naturally.

He also had many people scratching their heads at his use of the word ‘bigly’, meaning one presumes, big.

“We’ve been losing all the time,” he said of the country he’s running to lead.

We lose with our military, we can’t beat Isis. We lose with trade, we lose with borders, we lose with everything. We’re gonna stop losing, we’re gonna start winning again and we’re gonna win bigly, believe me.

Trump says this phrase a lot and some have argued that he might actually be saying ‘big league’ with a soft ‘g’.

Either way, things are getting weird, bigly.
