Video: Pilot escapes with minor injuries after small plane smashes into a tree

An aviation investigation has been launched.

THE PILOT OF a light aircraft that crashed after hitting a tree in a car park in Plainville, Connecticut has survived relatively unscathed.

Police in Plainville have released the video of the incident from yesterday where the plane smacks into a tree before crashing next to parked cars. A vehicle is seen approaching from the side as the plane comes down.

The pilot, who is reported to be a 79-year-old German citizen, suffered only minor injuries. ”I’m just so thankful,” he told NBC Connecticut.

The Federal Aviation Administration told NBC Connecticut that it’s investigating the crash.
