Some members of the 32nd Dáil attended the demonstration.

A WATER PROTEST took place on Kildare Street this afternoon as the first sitting of the new Dáil got underway.

It’s reported that up to 500 people were in attendance, however a garda spokesperson disputed that figure and said that the protest was very ‘low key’.

He added that the protest was made up of a few small groups and wasn’t just anti-water charge demonstrators.

Gardaí also confirmed that there were no incidents or arrests made.
