Entire country now under Status Yellow weather warnings as temperatures drop below freezing

Possible impacts of the weather include hazardous travel conditions and poor visibility.

ALL COUNTIES ARE now under Status Yellow weather warnings which will remain in place until tomorrow. 

Met Éireann has advised there will be wintry showers with some snow accumulations possible, and a sharp or severe frost and ice is also likely.

Temperatures generally are expected to drop to between -2 and -5 degrees. 

A snow/ice warning is in place for counties Cavan, Donegal, Monaghan and Louth, as well as the whole of Connacht. Snow and sharp frost are expected in those counties.

A separate low temperature/ice warning had also been in place for Cavan, Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Louth, Mayo, Monaghan, Roscommon, and Sligo, but it has been extended to include Carlow, Clare, Cork, Dublin, Kerry, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Limerick, Longford, Meath, Offaly, Tipperary, Waterford, Westmeath, Wexford, and Wicklow.

Both warnings will remain in place until 11am tomorrow. 

A yellow snow and ice warning has also been issued in all six counties in the North, which will be in place until midday tomorrow. 

Possible impacts include hazardous travel conditions and poor visibility.

Tonight will remain cold, with a widespread sharp to severe frost and icy stretches, along with scattered icy showers in some areas. Patches of fog or freezing fog may form also.

Tomorrow will see another cold start, with dangerous driving conditions. It will be a mostly dry and sunny day, with highest temperatures of 1 to 5 degrees in light to moderate northwest to west winds.
