MUM’S THE WORD…though that may not be the case in everyone’s book.
You might not think twice about what you call your mother, but broadcaster Sarah McInerney told RTÉ Radio 1′s Louise Duffy Show that she received a message from a listener asking her not to use the word ‘mum’ – insisting that ‘mammy’ or ‘mam’ is the correct Irish term.
The listener added that the term ‘mum’ is an example of “anglicisation,” which McInerney and programme host Ciara King disagreed with.
So, we want to ask: What do you call your mother?
