THE WEEKEND IS kicking off – but what should you watch?
We’ve taken a look through what’s on offer and picked out series and movies that you can check out over the next three days on streaming and the telly.
Nippon Sangoku: The Three Nations of the Crimson Sun
Here’s one for the anime fans: a series set in a divided near-future Japan, where civilization has collapsed and the nation has split into three. Aoteru Misumi, who was a local government official, leads a movement to reunify the country.

Your Friends and Neighbours
The always charismatic John Hamm is back for a second season of this entertaining dark comedy/crime drama. He plays Andrew ‘Coop’ Cooper, who is divorced and unemployed, and decides a criminal lifestyle (ie stealing from his neighbours) will help. But he discovers lots of juicy facts about them during his activities. Expect new dramas and scandals as this series returns to our screens.

Final Destination: Bloodlines
If you missed this film when it landed in cinemas last year, here’s a chance to catch it on the small screen. It’s about college student Stefanie, who suffers a recurring violent nightmare and heads home to try and save her family from an early demise.

Prey
Another great movie pick. This 2022 action film sees Amber Midthunder play Naru, a hunter who’s underestimated by her own tribe. But she notices some strange things happening around her… this is a prequel to the original Predator film. Highly praised on its release, it’s directed by Dan Trachtenburg who also directed 10 Cloverfield Lane.
Catch it on Channel 4 at 11pm on Saturday.
Eat Pray Bark
If you’re looking for a light and quirky comedy, try this new German film. It’s about five eccentric dog owners who seek help dealing with their wayward pups. They turn to a charismatic dog trainer based in the Tyrolean mountains, but it soon becomes clear that it’s not just the dogs who need a bit of guidance.
