The Witness

This drama is based on a true story – that of how Alex and André Hanscombe dealt with the horrific killing of Alex’s mum Rachel Nickell on Wimbledon Common in 1992. Alex was the only eyewitness to the attack and was just two years of age. The series follows how they navigated the investigation and the impact of Rachel’s horrifying death on both of them.

Bring Me The Beauties: A Model Cult

The disturbing story of Frederick von Mierers, a former model and socialite who set up a ‘spiritual enlightenment’ society called Eternal Values, and how he attracted new members from within the modelling world. These people included Hoyt Richards (aka John Hoyt), who gives his testimony in this documentary. Three episodes roll out weekly.

Dead Man’s Wire

If you’re a fan of 70s thrillers like Dog Day Afternoon, give this a try. It’s based on the true story of what happened in February 1977 when disgruntled real-estate developer Tony Kiritsis (Bill Skarsgård) took mortgage broker Richard Hall (Dacre Montgomery) hostage with a sawn-off shotgun wired with a “dead man’s wire” – i.e., a trigger straight to Kiritsis’ neck. It’s directed by Gus Van Sant (Good Will Hunting) and even stars Al Pacino, who was in Dog Day Afternoon.

The Plague

Here’s another movie that’s new to streaming. This is set in the summer of 2003 at an all-boys summer water polo camp. Ben, a socially anxious 12-year-old, struggles to fit in and befriends the lonely outcast Eli. Ben has to confront his own complicity in Eli’s treatment in this dark coming-of-age story.
