Woman in her 60s charged in connection with fatal assault of man in north Dublin

The assault, which resulted in the death of a man and the hospitalisation of two women, occurred on Foster Terrace last month.

A WOMAN IN her 60s has been charged as part of the investigation into a fatal assault in Ballybough, Dublin, last month.

Gardaí confirmed that the woman, who was arrested as part of the investigation yesterday, has now been charged and is due to appear before a judge at the Criminal Courts of Justice at 4.30pm this afternoon.

The incident occurred in the early hours of 31 January on Foster Terrace, Dublin 3.

Shortly before 1.30am, gardaí and emergency services responded to reports of an assault.

A man in his 50s was discovered with serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two women, both aged in their 60s, were taken to hospital for treatment. One sustained non-life threatening injuries, while the other suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries.

No arrests had initially been made, but gardaí confirmed yesterday that a woman in her 60s had been arrested in connection with the investigation.

She has now been charged and is scheduled to appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice this afternoon.

Investigations are ongoing.

Lord Mayor of Dublin Ray McAdam said shortly after the assault that the Ballybough community was in shock following the man’s death.

“My thoughts are with those injured, and with the family and loved ones of the deceased at this extremely difficult time,” McAdam said.
