A WOMAN IN her late 80s has died after the car she was driving veered off the road and hit a wall in Co Roscommon on Sunday afternoon.
Gardaí in Castlerea are investigating the single-vehicle crash, which occurred on the N60 at Corrastoona Beg, Castlerea at about 2.05pm on Sunday.
The woman was seriously injured and was taken to University Hospital Galway, where she died yesterday.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information is asked to contact them at Castlerea Garda Station on 094 962 1630, the garda confidential line on 1800 666 111 or any garda station.
Several people have died on Irish roads in recent days, including a woman in her 20s in Dublin overnight.
