THE WORLD’S MOST expensive coin is on display in the RDS in Dublin this weekend.
The 1794 Flowing Hair Silver Dollar is believed to be the first dollar coin ever to be struck by the US mint and arrived in Dublin yesterday.
The coin, which is believed to have been inspected and approved by George Washington, is one of the most highly regarded coins in the coin-collecting world.
It was sold in 2013 to businessman Bruce Morelan for $10 million (€8.9 million).
It will be on display, accompanied by an original copy of the Declaration of Independence, printed in Boston in July 1776 which is worth approximately $4million (€3.59 million), from 10am to 5pm today and tomorrow. Admission to the Minerva Suite is free.
Here’s what you could buy with the coin – if you were allowed use it as legal tender.
