Bill Clinton to urge US business leaders: invest in Ireland

The former US president will hold a special event in New York on Thursday aimed at urging key business people to help out Ireland’s economy. Enda Kenny, Eamon Gilmore and Richard Bruton will all attend.

BILL CLINTON IS to hold an event in New York this week to urge business and economic leaders to invest in Ireland’s economic recovery.

Taoiseach Enda Kenny, Tánaiste Eamon Gilmore and Minister for Jobs Richard Bruton will all attend the Invest in Ireland events on Thursday along with a group of global business and economic leaders.

The former US president had made a commitment to hold the event at the Global Irish Economic Forum in October of last year.

The principal message of the event is to tell potential investors that Ireland is open for business, according to the Government Press Office.

President Clinton will host a roundtable discussion in the morning followed by the Invest in Ireland Forum, which will see around 100 people from the Global Irish Network and existing investors in Ireland discussing Ireland’s economic problems.

The event will be part of a two-day visit to New York by the Taoiseach on Thursday and Friday of this week.

Enda Kenny will address the Forum on the progress Ireland is making in dealing with the economic challenges facing the country. Tánaiste Eamon Gilmore will also speak to talk about the progress made since the Global Irish Economic Forum in Dublin last October.
