Extra funding granted to prevent landslides in Cobh
The Minister for Environment announced an extra €2 million in funding for tackling landslides in Cobh in Co Cork.
COBH HAS A history of landslides which are an on-going threat to the safety of the public and property.
An extra two million euro in funding has been announced for the Cobh Landslide Programme by the Minister for Environment, Phil Hogan.
This comes after 1.5 million euro was announced in May of this year.
A detailed engineer’s report identified 37 slopes and walls that are most at risk in Cobh.
The money given this year will mean that the recommendations of that report will be completed.
Announcing the funding, Minister Hogan said:
The completion of this programme will go further to keep the people of Cobh safe. To that end, I am happy to have been able to provide funding of €3.5million in total this year in order to complete the urgent works programme.
