Poll: Should Dublin set up community courts?

It has worked for New York City…so should we bring them in here?

DUBLIN CITY BUSINESS Association want a community court system – similar to one that has been successful in New York City – set up in Dublin.

The court would have a fully qualified judge who would be able to hear a case and sentence a person, but with a focus on doing what is best for the community and addressing the issues around the crime committed.

Practically, it would mean speedier cases and sanctions. Those pushing for their introduction say they will reduce crime and numbers in prison, as well as save money.

What do you think? Should Dublin set up community courts?

Poll Results:

No (578)
Yes (560)
I don't know (180)
