Woman who saved poisoned neighbours is Cork person of the month

Angela Marshall found her two neighbours unconscious from carbon monoxide poisoning.

CORK WOMAN ANGELA Marshall has received the January Cork Person of the Month award after she saved two of her neighbours who she found unconscious from carbon monoxide poisoning at their home.

Marshall was checking on the two elderly sisters, as she regularly does, when she found them and her timely intervention saved their lives.

The Cork hero calls in or telephones the two sisters on a daily basis and brings them their groceries each week.

“Angela Marshall’s community spirit is typical Blarney Street behaviour because we all look out for each other”, said Tom Coleman, Chairman of Blarney Street, Community Association.

Marshall said the one positive thing to come out of the experience is that neighbours are now buying carbon monoxide alarms.

“People are proud – they won’t ask for help. I think it’s up to neighbours to take the first step and call in and check on them. It doesn’t take that much effort,” she said.
