Do you like big boats? Disney's signature ship will be visiting Dublin next year

The vessel will be bringing 2,700 passengers and 950 cast and crew.

FOLLOWING THE VISIT of the MSC Splendida cruise liner to Dublin – the longest ship ever to visit Dublin Port – another major cruise liner is set to dock here in 2016.

Next year, the 300m long Disney Magic cruise ship will be calling to Dublin on 26 May as part of a transatlantic cruise that will travel from Port Canaveral, Florida, to Dover, England.

It will then dock in Dublin a second time on the 13 June as part of a 12 night cruise around the UK and Ireland.

The ship will bring around 2,700 passengers as well as its 950 cast and crew.

On the growing prestige of Dublin as a docking location, Eamonn O’Reilly, chief executive with the Dublin Port Company, said:

Bringing ships larger than we routinely handle demonstrates the strong demand in the market for enhanced infrastructure in Dublin Port and also gives us an opportunity to showcase to the people of Dublin what they can expect to see in future years as we develop the port.

O’Reilly also said that plans for 18 ships which are set to dock in Dublin bay could potentially come into Dublin Port due to the success of the MSC Splendidia’s visit.
