Family of missing Irishman in Amsterdam appeal for information

The family of missing Paul Nolan Miralles say they ‘expect the worst outcome’ as they try to locate the 36-year-old who went missing in Amsterdam last Wednesday.

THE SISTER OF missing Irishman Paul Nolan Miralles says the family “expect the worst outcome” after her brother went missing in Amsterdam earlier this week.

Nolan Miralles is 36, originally from Ireland and is half-Spanish. He has been living in Amsterdam for the last ten years.

He has been missing since early Wednesday morning and the family are appealing for any information on his whereabouts to contact them or Dutch police.

He was last seen heading home after a night out in Amsterdam with friends and it is feared he may have fallen into a canal in the Dutch capital.

His sister Anne Ravanona, 38, has told TheJournal.ie that the family are not giving up hope but that it has been too long for them not to have heard from her brother, who works at the city’s Hard Rock Café:

We don’t give up hope but it is too long for him to be missing. We’ve been very vocal. It’s all over Facebook and Twitter.

His friends and colleagues have been plastering flyers all over Amsterdam and we’ve searched all along the way he would have walked home and found nothing.

Ravanona, who lives in Paris, added that her brother is very popular:

His nickname is ‘Lord’ in the Hard Rock Cafe. Although he’s a waiter, he rules the roost there and he is extremely popular.

Nolan Miralles has three other brothers and two sisters including Ravanona who says their Spanish-born mother Rosario “is in bits”.

She is arriving into Amsterdam today, and his uncle has also arrived from Spain.

Dutch police told TheJournal.ie that they are doing everything neccessary to try and locate Nolan Miralles but admitted that the possibility he may be dead must be considered because of the length of time he has been missing.

The Irish Department of Foreign Affairs is liaising with the family and the Dutch authorities including the Irish embassy in the Netherlands. The Spanish embassy has also been notified.
