A FIVE-YEAR-OLD girl has been rescued alive hours after an avalanche which killed nine people struck her house.
The child was found buried under 10 metres of snow by rescue workers after they heard her voice and a mobile phone ringing. She is recovering in hospital and Klan Kosova reports that her condition is stable.
Both of the girl’s parents are believed to have been killed. Several homes were destroyed by the avalanche, but most were unoccupied at the time. One person remains missing after the avalanche struck the remote mountain village of Restelica yesterday.
