Man charged over discovery of loaded handgun in Dublin

One man was released and a file sent to the DPP.

GARDAÍ HAVE CHARGED one man in relation to the discovery of a loaded handgun in Dublin earlier this week.

The man (25) is due before the courts at 10.30am. A second man who was arrested at the same time was released without charge. A file is being prepared for the DPP.

At around 5pm on Monday evening, gardaí attached to the Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (DOCB) stopped a car on the Howth Road in Killester.

Assistant Commissioner John O’Driscoll said that gardaí are continuing to closely monitor the “activity of people associated with organised crime groups with a view to protecting the life of their intended victims and to seize the proceeds of their criminal activity”.

He said: “We are determined to identify every member of organised crime groups who are a threat to the life of others and to target them for arrest and prosecution.”

Comments are off as legal proceedings are ongoing.
