‘Gerry Ryan wasn’t on drugs’, claims taxi driver who drove him home

The taxi driver who was the last person to see the RTÉ broadcaster alive has told a newspaper that Ryan “definitely” didn’t act like he was on drugs on the night he died.

THE LAST PERSON to see Gerry Ryan alive has claimed that the star looked well and was not behaving as if he had taken any drugs on the night that he died.

The Irish Daily Mail reports that taxi driver Alan Wilton drove Ryan home after his last meal with friends and that although he could spot that he had had a few drinks he said that the broadcaster “definitely didn’t look like he was on anything (drugs), definitely”.

An inquest into the 2fm DJ’s death nearly a year ago found that traces of cocaine in his system were likely to have triggered the cardiac arrhythmia which led to his death.

Earlier this month, a doctor who examined Ryan’s toxicology test results claimed that it was “totally inaccurate” to attribute his death solely down to cocaine use.
