AN IRISH DANCING show has become an instant success in China and one of the country’s biggest promoters has tipped it to run for a decade.
Heartbeat of Home, the new show from the producers and director of Riverdance, has played to sold-out venues in Shanghai and Beijing in the last week, packing in 10,000 and 8,000 people in the respective cities.
The organisers say that the response to the show, which premiered in Dublin last year, has been met with rapturous responses.
The success has led to Chinese promoter, Jurek Zhang, predicting: “Heartbeat of Home will tour in China for the next 10 years.”
The show’s producer Moya Doherty says that the success of the new show has been satisfying, but there will be no announcement until the new year.
“We are absolutely thrilled with the reaction in China. The show has certainly enraptured audiences in China.
“We are now in discussions to embark on a major run in a number of Chinese cities but plans will not be finalised until the New Year,” she added.
Riverdance has also announced a tour of China that will run from August next year until early 2015.
