The Ioniq is Hyundai's new electric car

One body, three powertrains.

THE ALL NEW Hyundai Ioniq is a five-door hatchback with an option of three different electrified powertrains – a fully electric version, a hybrid and a plug-in hybrid.

First up is the all-electric version, which is powered by a 120hp 28kW Li-Ion battery and has a maximum potential driving range of 280km – greater than that of the new 30kW Nissan Leaf. It has a top speed of 165km/h and costs just €120 a year to tax.

The Ioniq Electric is priced from €28,495 (excluding delivery and related charges) and comes with 16-inch alloys, Bi-Xenon headlights, Smart Key stop / start technology, lane departure warning system, dual zone climate control and heated front seats with lumbar support.

The cabin also features a seven-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Map Care and TomTom LIVE services plus a rear-view camera with guidance and sensors.

The Ioniq Hybrid is powered by a 1.6-litre four-cylinder GDI petrol engine with 32Kw permanent magnet synchronous motor and 1.56kWh lithium-ion battery. It has a top speed of 185km/h and costs just €170 a year to tax. The Ioniq Hybrid costs from €31,995 (excluding delivery and related charges) and comes with 17-inch alloys and all the features of the electric version – but gets a larger eight-inch touchscreen with sat-nav and traffic messaging channel.

The Ioniq Hybrid and all-electric versions are available now and the Plug-in Hybrid version arrives in early 2017.

Each version of the Ionic qualifies for the standard five-year, unlimited mileage manufacturer warranty, while the lithium-ion battery comes with an eight-year, 200,000km warranty.
