Dream Car: the Ferrari 360 Spider is a Maranello masterpiece

There’s nothing frightening about this Spider.

IF I HAD the money I’d buy…

An Italian sports car with exhilarating performance, spine-tingling engine sounds and amazing aerodynamic characteristics, as well as being an aesthetic delight. I would buy a Ferrari 360 Spider.

Why a Ferrari 360 Spider?

This stunning supercar is a mid-engined, rear wheel drive V8-powered convertible based on the 360 Modena Berlinetta (coupe). It has gorgeous Pininfarina body styling and its metamorphosis from closed top to open top is a two-stage folding action once described as “a stunning 20 second mechanical symphony”. It is super quick – you’ll accelerate 0-100km/h in a blistering 4.4 seconds and its 3.6 litre V8 makes 395hp at 8500rpm.

What’s special about this particular one?

This particular 2005 example is in excellent condition and comes with the F1-type six-speed longitudinal automatic gearbox, so you really can pretend you are Schumacher when behind the wheel.

It has stunning crema Daytona-style seats with blue piping trim. It is finished in this rich Tour de France Blue and has a blue fabric roof and sits atop 19-inch modular split rims.

What does it look like in action?

This is one of the most watched YouTube videos of the Ferrari 360 Spider in action: a child driving one around a race track!

I guess it is a very easy car to drive, or else there are some very trusting adults out there.

Who else drives one?

The Ferrari force is strong with Hayden Christensen, aka Anakin Skywalker who owns a $200K 360 Modena. Wyclef Jean doesn’t just sing about fast cars, he drives one too –  a 360 Spider, no less. (Ooh la la la!) And you can be sure that Arnie will be back, fast, as he too drives a Ferrari 360 Spider.

It costs €112,950. What else could you get for the money?

For the same money you could have this Range Rover Sport HSE Dynamic 3.0-litre Tdv6.

… or this gorgeous home in Lithuania!
