THE FINAL DAY of Xi Jinping’s visit to Ireland saw China’s vice president pay a visit to Michael D Higgins earlier today.
The two leaders held talks in Áras an Uachtaráin to discuss links between Ireland and China.

I possibly *am* shorter than Michael D – I’ve never measured because I don’t know if my self-esteem could take it – but I didn’t delete your comment. It’s still there. Sometimes it can take a moment after posting for it to appear on your screen. Try refreshing again and you should be able to see it.

I hope XI brought up the issue of human rights in Ireland with our President as there are people living in poverty with little food and no gas or light yet the politicians keep cutting our standard of living while they feather their own nests. Our politicians and Councilors are like pigs at a troff. Greedy money grabbing self absorbed gits.

I’m sure there were lots of issues Michael D would have liked to get stuck into but I guess he anticipated before running for office that he would be bound by the constitution to keep a lid on it.

Jokes about Michael D’s physical stature aside, I must say how refreshing it is to see a man with such a distinguished reputation represent us.
I still shudder that we were so close to having the Fianna Fail bagman Gallagher at this meeting. Can you imagine the niteclub bouncer talking to the Chinese – ” I’m an oontrapanoor.. “
