Right, this is my pic.
Shouldn’t even be entertaining this, but anyway…
This is a 30″ f16 ISO 1600 shot taken with a tripod.
It was shot in Raw, then had the contrast tweaked before being converted to a Jpeg for emailing. It passed through Aperterure on its way to the journal but came nowhere near Photoshop. The resolution on this page is pretty low, there version emailed is much higher resolution.
Paul
Whilst your envy is understandable, your spite ill becomes you. We can’t all be from Cork so get over it.
I’m from Johannesburg. In the summer you might see 5 or 6 bolts of lightning in an Afternoon thunder storm!!!!!!
Great shot, I’m trying to figure out where exactly it was taken from, obviously from roughly the same elevation as Shandon and the North Cathedral, so I give up, please tell…roof of Neptune maybe…
Bout the only good thing that will happen in Cork all year.
Shows how little you know about the place. Maybe visit sometime we might surprise you.
We like to talk ourselves up alot and in the process seem to annoy the rest of the country but sure why not nothing wrong with being proud of where you are from.
Ive always found Kerry people are well able for us but they have a history of beating us constantly in football so its easy for them to put us in our place.
But some of the negativity being thrown our way just seems a bit Irish, Sorry couldn’t resist :-)
Anyone would do the reflection as well ??? Actually incorrect again. Getting the distance right to add reflection on a dull surface would be very difficult. This was clearly taken with a camera phone I doubt the Paul Gallagher planned on it becoming a subject for you to put down?!! A great shot. Def not photoshopped.
No it wouldn’t,that is basic stuff, distance my ar*e a bit of messing around would do it it about half a hour to hour..I take it you either don’t use Photoshop or have a Windows 95 version..go Google pictures that have been Photoshoped it makes this pic look amateur to be honest
That’s my point ?!! Maybe I started off to big there. The picture is not photoshopped because of the resolution which is quite low. I would even bet this shot was taken with an iPhone 3GS. Added to the fact the pictures never transfer well on to the journal’s feed as it looses even more resolution and becomes noisy.
The lightening has also lost its resolution accordingly. If this was photoshopped it would have taken an incredible amount of work. I doubt Paul Gallagher was arsed. It was a case of right place right time.
And … Windows 95 was an OS not an editing tool. Which the latter def describes you …
I’ve used photoshop since the mid-90s from version 3 up to CS6.
There’s no chance this is a photoshop job, the light of the lighting bolt is refracted by the rain drops on the window and it lights up a 3D environment quite convincingly.
Newer versions of Photoshop are capable of basic 3D graphics, but rendering an artificial landscape, window and individual raindrops to fake light reflection and refraction is well beyond Photoshop’s ability.
Cheers Roz I have up arguing he’s basically saying that all Hollywood Films can now be made by an app at the swish of a finger. I know Spielberg is worried now the game is up?!!
Have to say he caught me out on the roof top thing but same rules apply ..!!
The one thing that’s incorrect in this thing is that the reflection is not on a road, it’s on a roof. I use Photoshop a good bit and if I were to do a fake shot I’d leave out the raindrops on the lens..too much work to make each drop catch the light in the proper places. This is a great, genuine shot!
Not news worthy with the wet glass blocking the view. It’s ok.
Well there was no other pic available to show the lightening from cork last night, apart from this one. He provided the camera set up for the pic, considering the conditions he did well. If you’re questioning the new worthiness of the story, moan about the story itself. Care to post “an award winning” pic,so we can critique !
