Armed gardaí find loaded gun and arrest two men in significant anti-gangland operation

The arrests were made on Kylemore Road in Ballyfermot.

Updated 6.40am

THE GARDA EMERGENCY Response Unit (ERU) made a major intervention yesterday evening after two men were arrested following the discovery of a loaded gun in Dublin.

The weapon was discovered when armed gardaí stopped a car on Kylemore Road in Ballyfermot on the southside of Dublin.

Gardaí said the arrests were made following an “intelligence-led operation”.

Two men – aged 34 and 38 – were arrested at the scene on suspicion of conspiracy to murder and a loaded gun was recovered.

Both men were taken to Crumlin Garda Station and are currently detained under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007.

It’s understood that gardaí are treating this as a significant development in the fight against feud-related violence in the capital.
