TWO STOPS ON the Luas Red Line remain out of use this afternoon after an accident in the city centre left two people in hospital.
A Luas tram collided with a skip collection truck at the Benburb St area, between the Heuston and Museum stops, at about 7:35am.
The cabs of both vehicles sustained significant damage, with a number of ambulances dispatched to the scene to treat the injured parties.
The service on the entire line was disrupted for a number of hours as emergency services attended to the scene.
Service has now been restored to most of the line but trams will not be stopping at the Museum and Smithfield stops.
The operator of the Luas service said this afternoon that passengers who intend to travel beyond these stops will need to walk the short distance along the north quays to either the Four Courts or Heuston station for onward travel.
“We are doing our utmost to restore a full line as soon as possible,” the operator said in a statement.
Luas tickets are valid on Dublin Bus for the duration of the disruption and a valid Luas ticket is required to travel on these buses.
Services on the Green Line are unaffected.
