The Daniel Day

There were 88,000 journeys on the Luas EVERY DAY this year

That’s a lot of trips to the Square and Dundrum Shopping Centre.

DUBLIN’S TRAM NETWORK passed over 32 million journeys this year for the first time.

Figures from the Rail Procurement Agency (RPA) today show that 32.4 million individual journeys were made on the Luas in 2014, the largest number of journeys made since the 2004 introduction of the system.

That works out at 87,912 journeys a day.

It also means that 1.9 million additional trips were made in 2014 compared to the 30.5 million made in 2013 – an increase of 6%, exceeding general economic growth measures.

In June, Luas celebrated 10 years of operation.

Welcoming the figures RPA’s Acting Chief Executive Rory O’Connor said:

“In our tenth year of Luas operations it is great to see the service going from strength to strength.

“We’d like to thank all of our customers for their continued support and we look forward to many years of successful Luas operations.”
