Pictures from the CCTV camera show the man obscuring his face as he enters the shop.
A garda spokesperson said that the man produced a knife and threatened staff, demanding them to hand over money from the tills.
He is believed to left the scene with a sum of cash.
His face remains covered throughout, but the man wore a white jacket, black trousers and is believed to have fled the scene on foot in the direction of Carlow town.

The owner also urged anyone who may have seen anything or was in the area at the time to come forward with information.
