1. #RECOVERY: A new weather warning is in place this morning as towns across the country assess damage from Storm Frank and prepare for further flooding. Lough Derg may reach 2009 levels in the coming days.

2. #MURDER INVESTIGATION: The victim of a shooting at a pub in Dublin yesterday evening has been named as Darren Kearns. He had recently finished a sentence for drug offences.

3. #STRIP SHOW: The Irish Mirror reports that male strippers pulled over by gardaí were allegedly allowed to walk away without a fine for an expired tax disc after performing for female gardaí at a local station. The incident is under investigation by An Garda Síochána.

4. #ROUGH FLIGHT: Turbulence on an Air Canada flight injured 21 people including three children, forcing an emergency landing. CBC News reports that eye witnesses said passengers ‘hit the ceiling’ and oxygen masks dropped.

5. #ROAD DEATH: A motorcyclist has died in a two-vehicle car crash in Galway overnight.

6. #RIGHT OF REPLY: The Banking Inquiry is due to meet this morning to discuss replies received from those mentioned in its final report, RTÉ News reports. This includes former taoisigh and bank bosses.

7. #STARDUST: An official in the office of the then-taoiseach Garret Fitzgerald wanted a 1985 redress scheme for victims of the Stardust fire disaster kept “as far away from this department as possible”.

8. #MELTING POINT: While Storm Frank caused chaos here in Ireland, it caused temperatures at the North Pole to rise above freezing point, 20 degrees Celsius above the mid-winter norm and the latest abnormality in a season of extreme weather events.

9. #IN THE NEW YEAR: We’re into the final hours of 2015, and it looks like there’s high hopes for 2016. A survey has found that Irish adults are more optimistic about the new year, and are happier than they were the same time last year.
