Obama says Trump is 'unfit' and 'woefully unprepared' to be president
This isn’t the first time Obama has criticised the Republican candidate.
US PRESIDENT BARACK Obama has criticised Donald Trump, saying he is “woefully unprepared” and “unfit” to serve as president.
“I think the Republican nominee is unfit to serve as president,” he said at a White House news conference. “I said so last week. He keeps proving it.”
Today, President Obama called out Republican leaders on their continued support for their party’s White House nominee Donald Trump, given some of the real estate mogul’s incendiary statements.
“This isn’t a situation where you have an episodic gaffe. This is daily and weekly where they are distancing themselves from statements he’s making,” Obama said of the party’s top brass including House Speaker Paul Ryan and Senator John McCain.
“There has to be a point in which you say: ‘This is not somebody I can support for president of the United States, even if he purports to be a member of my party.’”

Criticism has poured in this week for Donald Trump from outraged veterans groups, relatives of soldiers killed in action, after criticising Khizr Khan, suggesting that his wife, who stood by his side as he spoke, had not been ‘allowed’ to talk.
Khan was paying tribute to his dead son at the Democratic National Convention when he rebuked the Republican nominee for having “sacrificed nothing” for the country.
This, coupled with another incident where Trump mocked Senator John McCain, a former prisoner of war, for being captured in Vietnam is stoking even more hostility against the Republican candidate.
