TRIBUTES HAVE BEEN paid to Keith Lawless, an Irishman who died in Barcelona, Spain after falling ill on Saturday night.

Lawless ran Dillinger’s restaurant in Ranelagh in Dublin, and the venue’s social media account led online tributes to the 44-year-old.

They posted:

RIP Keith Richard Lawless. Our colleague, a son, a brother, a father and friend to many. Legend.

Others posting on social media praised Lawless as a “very special person”, “a gent” and a “tremendous friend”.

One commented: “What an amazing soul…. An example for others to follow”.

Friends of Lawless have set up a crowdfunding page to raise the money to bring him home, and are just over a quarter of the way to their target.

It’s understood that he became ill after he was separated from friends while on holiday.

A spokesperson for the Department of Foreign Affairs told TheJournal.ie that the government is aware of the case and the department is providing consular assistance to the Lawless’ family.

With reporting from Sean Murray.
