Would you report someone for breaking the hosepipe ban?

The ban will be implemented from midnight until 11.59pm on Wednesday 26 August.

A SIX-WEEK-LONG HOSEPIPE ban is to come into effect across six counties from Thursday.

These restrictions on water use are being introduced in parts of the country that are facing supply shortages – which currently include Dublin, Kildare, Wicklow, Meath and parts of Tipperary and Wexford.

Anyone who is found to have breached this ban could face penalties and fines of up to €5,000.

Uisce Éireann has said that it isn’t encouraging people to report their neighbours or other members of the public. However, it has asked for any excessive breaches of the restrictions to be flagged.

So, we’re wondering: Would you report someone for breaking the hosepipe ban?
