A HOST OF international landmarks will turn green on 17 March to mark St Patrick’s Day.
The Colosseum in Rome and the Sacré-Cœur Basilica in the fabled district of Montmartre will be going green for the first time, following representation from the Irish embassies in Italy and France.
Other sites going green for the first time include the Ada Bridge in Belgrade, Serbia and the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee.

The “greening” of landmarks on Paddy’s Day is a joint initiative by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and its Embassy Network, together with Tourism Ireland, Bord Bia, Enterprise Ireland, IDA and other State agencies. It has seen landmarks from Tokyo to San Francisco go green.
