Teenager dies following swimming incident at Cavan lake in second drowning today

The incident is the second drowning today.

A 16-YEAR-OLD HAS died after he got into difficulty while swimming in a lake in Cavan.

The incident occurred at 3pm this afternoon in Killykeen Forest Park.

He was removed from the water and brought to Cavan General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

In a separate incident, a five-year-old died after falling into a lake in Dublin.

The boy was discovered in the lake at Belgree Lawns in Tyrrelstown at 9.30am, but could not be resuscitated.
